Often caused by:
- Insufficient clear space around the machine - at least 30 cm both sides and 10 cm at rear
- Using anything other than Eskimo Joe's slush syrup
- An incorrect mix ratio of syrup and water
- Dirty or blocked filter
Quick checks:
Check the machine is plugged into a 13 amp socket and is switched on
Check the switches are in the on position - if there is power going to the machine the lights will be on
Make sure overnight mode is used - don't just turn the machine off with slush in as this damages the machine and causes ice chunks. Switch to overnight mode as per this guide
Check only genuine Eskimo Joe's syrup is used, using anything else will void your warranty and damage your machine
Check mix ratio is correct - 1 part syrup to 5 parts water (a guide to mixing your syrup can be found here)
Check the machine has clear space around it for adequate air circulation to prevent overheating - at least 30cm each side, 10cm at rear of machine
Check the cooling fan is running - hold a piece of paper or napkin to the left side panel, the paper should be sucked to the panel if the fan is running
Check the auger/spiral is turning inside the slush machine
Check consistency setting - you can find out how to do this here
Pro Tips
Always mix your syrups to the correct syrup and water ratio (1 part syrup, 5 parts water - you can find a guide to mixing syrup here) using an Eskimo Joe's syrup mixing jug - you can purchase this here
Keep pre-mixed syrup in a refrigerator to keep it cold so that it freezes down faster
Always keep your slush close to the maximum fill line on the tanks
Use overnight mode settings and fill to the maximum line before putting the machine into overnight mode
If the straw stands up straight in the middle of the cup you've usually got good slush
Keep clear space around your machine, at least 30cm each side and 10cm at the rear
