Often caused by:
- The lid not being engaged properly, the lid needs to be correctly placed on top of the machine or the auger will not turn
- Switching the machine off instead of using overnight mode
- An incorrect mix ratio of syrup and water
- Using anything other than Eskimo Joe's slush syrup
- Letting the slush mix fall below the minimum fill line
- A broken auger
Quick checks:
Check auger (spiral) is not broken
Check the machine is plugged into a 13 amp socket and is switched on
Check the switches are in the on position
Check fill level on the tanks - it should always be close to the maximum fill line, and never below the minimum line on the tank
Make sure overnight mode is used - don't just turn the machine off with slush in as this damages the machine and causes ice chunks, set up overnight mode with this guide
Check only genuine Eskimo Joe's syrup is used - using anything else will void your warranty and damage your machine
Check mix ratio is correct - 1 part syrup to 5 parts water (a guide to mixing your syrup can be found here)
Next steps:
Remove the front seal, lubricate it and then replace
Check the front seal for wear
Pro Tips:
Always mix your syrups to the correct syrup and water ratio (1 part syrup, 5 parts water - you can find a guide to mixing syrup here) using an Eskimo Joe's syrup mixing jug - you can purchase this here
Keep pre-mixed syrup in a refrigerator to keep it cold so that it freezes down faster
Always keep your slush close to the maximum fill line on the tanks
Use overnight mode and fill to the maximum line before putting the machine into overnight mode
Keep at least 30 cm of clear space on both sides of your machine and 10 cm at the rear
If the straw stands up straight in the middle of the cup you've usually got good slush
