Often caused by:
- Insufficient clear space around the machine
- An incorrect mix ratio of syrup and water
Quick checks:
Check the machine is plugged into a 13 amp socket and is switched on
Check the machine has power and the switches are in the on position, if the machine has power the lights will be on
Check the auger (spiral) is turning on the side that is not freezing
Make sure overnight mode is used - don't just turn the machine off with slush in as this damages the machine and causes ice chunks. Switch to overnight mode as per image below:
Check only genuine Eskimo Joe's syrup is used - using anything else can damage your machine and will void your warranty
Check mix ratio is correct - 1 part syrup to 5 parts water (a guide to mixing your syrup can be found here). If there is too little syrup the mix will be too watery, meaning the slush cannot freeze
Check the machine has clear space around it - at least 30cm each side and 10cm at the rear
Check consistency setting - you can find out how to do this here

Pro Tips:
Always mix your syrups to the correct syrup and water ratio (1 part syrup, 5 parts water - you can find a guide to mixing syrup here) using an Eskimo Joe's syrup mixing jug - you can purchase these here
Keep pre-mixed syrup in a refrigerator to keep it cold so that it freezes down faster
Always keep your slush close to the maximum fill line on the tanks
Use overnight mode and fill to the maximum line before putting the machine into overnight mode
Keep clear space around your machine, at least 30cm each side and 10cm at the rear
If the straw stands up straight in the middle of the cup you've usually got good slush
